Donnie Thacker

Donnie Thacker passed from this life on January 14, 2022, only 15 days before his 62nd birthday.  He was born in Pike County, Kentucky on January 29, 1960. As a boy, Donnie moved to Green Cove Springs, Florida with his parents and siblings in January 1969. Donnie loved the outdoors and his job at Mobro Marine where he worked for over 40 years.  He was a very thrifty and wise man who loved to tinker and repurpose things rather than waste anything.

Donnie loved his family and friends and helped everyone he could.  He was preceded in death by his parents George and Marilyn Thacker of Green Cove Springs, FL; and sister Helen Edmunds (Rick) of Smith Station, Alabama.  He is survived by his beloved wife Cheryl (Sherry) Thacker, who loved and cared for him every day until the very end. Donnie leaves behind 6 grown children: Jonathan Thacker (Elisa), Tina Haring (Miguel), Shawn Hardin, Jessica Ridenour, Edward Hardin and Brian Amerson; along with 11 grandchildren. Donnie leaves behind his best friend/husband-in-law Scooter Cawley, who helped to take care of Donnie and was with Donnie when he took his last and final breath.  Donnie also leaves behind his brothers: Paul Thacker (Rhonda), Walter Thacker and Jimmy Thacker (Debbie); and sisters Wanda Cantrell (Roy) and Nancy Aslan. 

A celebration-of-life service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 28th, 2022 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs, Florida with Reverend Russell Franklin officiating.

Until we meet him again on the other side, Donnie will be forever loved and missed by everyone who knew him.
