Doris (Cloutier) Martel

Doris Martel a long-time resident of Jacksonville went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on her 81st birthday. Doris was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on October 21st, 1937. She married the love of her life, John D. Martel on December 15, 1956. Together they raised three children, and after living in different states throughout the years because of her husband’s Naval career, they settled in Jacksonville for the second time in 1974.
Doris loved board games, playing bingo and sharing good times with family and friends. You could always count on Doris watching her favorite shows and playing along to Jeopardy – where she seemed to know all the answers – all of the time. Doris also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and beating her laptop at solitaire.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Martel, her parents Alfred and Irene Cloutier and sister Lucille Isenberg. Doris is survived by her Son, Dan Martel of Edmond, Oklahoma and his wife Cynthia, Daughter Debbie Rogers and her husband Sam of Orange Park, Fl. And Daughter Leslie Turner of Mankato, MN. Doris also leaves behind her grand-children Alexis Lakin and husband Matt of Roanoke, TX., Addison Martel and wife Kayla of Edmond, OK. Asher Martel of Norman, OK. Martelle Rogers of Indianapolis, IN. Eric Rogers of Orange Park, FL. Tyler Turner of Hutchinson MN and Hunter Turner of Hutchinson MN.
Doris also had four great-grandchildren, Jameson and Atticus Turner, Porter and Jagger Lakin.
She will be greatly missed by so many and she will be remembered for being a loving, kind and wonderful wife, mother and grandmother.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Fr. Jose Kulathinal as celebrant. A reception will follow the service. A private graveside service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
Doris requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church of Jacksonville.
