Dorothy “Dottie” Sokol
Dorothy passed away January 21, 2020 in Orange Park Medical Center at the age of 91. She was born to Charles and Helen VanDoren on April 9, 1928 in Bass River Township New Jersey. Dorothy married John Mollenkopf in New Jersey on April 13, 1946 . They had two sons John and Edward and a daughter Barbara. She was preceded in death by her husband, John preceded on April 14, 1969 and her son Edward in 1983. Dorothy married Ewing Sokol on November 13, 1969. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1983. Dorothy became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on April 20, 1988 when she joined Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Chapter #1471. Dorothy was a very active member and hard worker. She received her Academy of Friendship on April 26, 1992, Past Regent on May 01, 2006 and received her College Degree on June 29, 2007. While in New Jersey she enjoyed riding horses with the family and was a member of the Riding Club.
She was also an active member in the church where she taught Sunday school.
After moving to Florida, she enjoyed gardening and crocheting afghans for everyone in the family. Dorothy came to Moosehaven on January 26, 2017 where she has resided for 3 years. She is survived by her son John Mollenkopf, wife Georgeann) of Palm Bay, FL, and her daughter Barbara DiBiase, (husband Ralph) of West Palm Beach, FL, 5 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great -great grandchildren.
