Douglas Ernest Kingdon passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at the age of 94.

Douglas was born to Ivor and Bertha Kingdon on September 10, 1929 in Pickering, Ontario, Canada. His work life began at age 16 as a carman for the Ontario Northland Railroad, then he moved to the United States to further his education. He received his B.A. from Houghton College in New York in 1957, then went on to achieve his Masters and Doctorate degrees in Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. During his teaching career he taught all grades from K-12, and undergraduate and postgraduate classes, eventually becoming a full professor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga where he taught for 30 years from 1972 until retirement.

Douglas married his beloved wife, Mary (Mickey), in 1956, and has two children, Dwight and Kim. He faithfully served in the churches he was a member of over the years, and loved developing and leading Bible studies for men’s groups he was a part of until the last few months of his life.

Douglas is survived by his wife, Mary Kingdon; son, Dwight Kingdon (Diane); daughter, Kim Patrick; brother, Harold Kingdon; grandchildren, Christopher (Chloe), Taylor, Dylan, Brendan, Sara, Summer, Carson; and great grandchildren, Serenity, Mason, Elliot.

The celebration of life service will be held at 10am on Saturday, August 31 in the chapel of Pinewood Presbyterian Church, 198 Knight Boxx Rd, Middleburg, FL.
