Douglas “Doug” Donald Parker, age 76, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and resided there for 42 years before moving to Green Cove Springs in 1989. Douglas worked for the Jacksonville Shipyards and the sheet metal industry for 30+ years before accepting a position with the Clay County Board of Commissioners where he retired in 2015.
Doug was married to the love of his life, Sandy, for 49 years. They have 3 children who adored spending time with him. He enjoyed visits with his grandchildren, fishing, camping, and cooking out by the pool. He is remembered as one of the kindest people many ever knew. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed time with his friends and family on the water, occasionally even sharing his secret fishing spots. All who knew him knew he could build or fix anything and was always willing to lend a hand to a friend in need. He loved to stay busy and could often be found “piddling” with a Nattie Light in one hand.
Douglas was preceded in death by his father Donald Parker, his mother Hattie Parker, his daughter Sherry Jean Parker, and his son Douglas Parker Jr.
Doug is survived by his loving wife Sandy, his daughters Dena Aponte & Nancy Parker, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
