Charles Doyle Saunders

March 30, 1929 — February 15, 2024

Charles Doyle Saunders was born on March 30, 1929 and went to be with the Lord on February 15, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born to parents Edna Harris Saunders and Charlie Saunders. Doyle was born in Green Cove Springs, Fl and lived in Penney Farms, Fl throughout his life with his beloved wife Mildred Everett Saunders.

Doyle attended the old school in Penney Farms through the 9th grade then moved to Clay High school for the remainder of his education. He valued working hard and spent many years working and providing for his family both monetarily and in all other aspects of their life. He spent these years working at his pulpwood business, doing maintenance at the old Magnolia Springs Apartments, as well as the postmaster at the Penney Farms Post Office and as a mail carrier for USPS in Jacksonville.

He loved spending time outside fixing things, tending to the cattle, doing yard work, and building numerous things including houses. Doyle was a man who valued his commitment to the Lord, love for his church and family, and being diligent in all things. Doyle was a longtime Deacon at First Black Creek Baptist Church in Penney Farms, Fl where he loved to serve the Lord and minister to those around him.

The memories that are shared with him are in the thousands and will always be remembered by his family and friends. A ton of memories were made traveling in the mountains with their motorhome. He often made these trips with Mildred’s sisters and brothers along with his children. Other memories were shared with his wife, children, and grandchildren at Dunn’s Creek fishing all day, then cleaning them, and then having a fish fry down by the water.

He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Diane Walker-Saunders, his grandson Jesse Saunders, and his three brothers Franklin, Morris & Carl.

He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years Mildred Saunders, his three children Kenneth Saunders, Tony Saunders (Charlene) & Joan Saunders, his grandchildren Danielle Saunders, Jammie Saunders, Chad Saunders (Catie), Heather McCarthy (Nolte), Dylan Hamilton (Kim) & Kayla Mulford (Everett), his 22 great-grandchildren, his 3 great-great-grandchildren, and his sister Nannie Mae Saunders Brock. Doyle lived a life that was fulfilling, full of love for God, Mildred, his children, and his family.

Funeral services will be held at First Black Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11:00 am and will be officiated by Brother Gary Melvin. Family will receive friends from 10:30am until service time.
