It is with a heavy heart; we report the passing of Earl O. Irvin. Mr. Irvin, born in Newton, Georgia on January 20, 1930, succumbed in his sleep on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, after a long, hard fought battle with bladder cancer, at the age of 91. Earl was born in Newton, Georgia. He was a baker for 75 years, a published children’s author, and a life member of the Elks Club, where he served as Exhaulted Ruler and a Florida’s Northeast District Vice President while a member of the Lake City Lodge. He will be remembered for his stories, his smile, his charity, his kindness, and his love of family, friends and strangers.
He is predeceased by his wife and the mother of his children, Elysabeth Dimitrius Irvin, and his second wife, Betty Clarke Irvin. He is survived by one sister Maxine (Johnny) Beza, of Las Vegas, NV, and his close friend, Sylvia Rosseau of Tallahassee. He is also survived by his daughters, Paulette Irvin of Panama City, Constance Higginbotham of Fleming Island, Patricia Zimmer and Dianne Davis (Greg) both of Tallahassee. He also is survived by stepdaughters Andrea (Randy) Suit of Bonnerdale, AR, Colleen Clarke of Elberton, GA, and Doreen (John) Barton of Tallahassee. He leaves behind 16 grandchildren, (including three adopted: Earl Oscar (Andria) of Reno, NV and Gus Michael Irvin and Elysabeth Marie Irvin, both of Tallahassee, 17 great grandchildren, one great great-grandson, and numerous extended family members.
A Celebration of Life for Mr. Irvin will be held at the Tallahassee Elks Lodge #937 located at 276 N. Magnolia Ave. Tallahassee, Florida on Saturday, September 25th at 1 p.m. We are both sad and pained but blessed we had him in our lives. Prayers for all cancer victims and their families.
