Erik Wayne Wiisanen

Erik Wayne Wiisanen (age 81) passed away on January 8, 2025 after an extended illness. Erik was born July 9, 1943 in San Francisco, CA to Elna Lydia and Wayne Johannes Wiisanen. He graduated from St. Luke’s School in Connecticut in 1962 and Cornell University in 1965 with a double major in Political Science and History and attended the London School of Economics and Political Science.  

He met the love of his life, Judy Presley Wiisanen, through his work in Jacksonville, FL, and welcomed Judy and Billy Wiisanen into his life through marriage on June 19, 1971. Billy became his adopted son soon thereafter. Their daughter, Kristin Wiisanen was born on May 28, 1973. Erik excelled in finance and marketing and served as Vice President of Marketing for Omega Metals for 25 years and continued in a consultant role until his death.  

Erik’s greatest joys in life were his children and grandchildren. He was a loving father to Billy and Kristin and was always up for special time on vacation or at the pool or playground with his children and grandchildren. He was especially excited to welcome five grandchildren into his life and loved time spent with them. Erik was a history aficionado and enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about history. He loved Jesus and lived a life full of love and laughter with his family. 

Erik is survived by his loving wife Judy and wonderful children, Billy (Ada) Wiisanen and Kristin (Micah Wells) Wiisanen, and grandchildren Mitchell (Brooke), Kasra (Lilla), Lydia, Keegan and Katherine. He is also survived by his sister Maya Wiisanen and her son Psalm (Kate) Kivinen.  

Erik will forever be remembered for his devotion to his family, his quick wit and intellect, and his love for Jesus. He was a stalwart advocate for his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed greatly by his family and all of his friends who loved and cherished him.
