Ernest T. Miller

April 29, 1932 — August 8, 2021

Ernest Theodore Miller, 89, of Salt Spring, Florida, passed gently into his eternal life on August 8, 2021. He was the son of Herbert Miller and Minnie Miller from Jacksonville, Florida. He was pre-deceased by his wife Twila Miller, son Donald Miller, and brother Herbert Miller.

Ernest grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and was a veteran of the United States Army. He attended the University of Tennessee and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career as an engineer was spent working for the U.S. government in the Civil Service.  After retiring he made his home in Salt Springs Florida.

His family was beloved to him and he took great pleasure in being a part of their lives. Throughout his long-life, Ernest devoted his life to God and to his family. He became a Christian at the age of 15 years old, when he met a preacher walking across a bridge, who talked to him about God. That evening he accepted Christ into his life. When asked what ideals he would pass on to future generations, he stated,” Turn your life to Jesus Christ and become a Christian.”

He is survived by his son Larry Miller (Georgia) and grandson Michael Miller (Kay), his brother George Miller, and several nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving care, and the staff and residents at Brookdale Southside Retirement Community for their many acts of kindness over the past years.

To Dad’s friends and families, we are most grateful to you for making his life one that he truly enjoyed.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery (East) in Palatka, FL with Brother Mark Conway officiating.
