Fred Lewis Henning, 79, of Middleburg, FL went home to be with Jesus on November 21, 2020. He was born October 30, 1941 in Lansing, MI, the son of Lewis Henning (deceased), stepfather Edward Matelsky (deceased) and Elizabeth Matelsky (deceased).
After finishing school, Fred attended cosmetology school where he met the love of his life, his Honey Bee, Betty! They shared 58 years of marriage and raised 3 children together. The greatest joy of his life was knowing his children and grandchildren all came to know Christ as their Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Rick Henning (Amy) and Tim Henning (Amy); daughter, Tammy Check (Ross); sisters, Kay Penny(deceased), Pam Hodges Matelsky (Skip, deceased), Jane Matelsky, Dianne Matelsky and Marie Smith; half brother, Danny Henning (dec); grandchildren, Jason Henning (Nikki), Zach Henning (Jiin), Conor Check, Nathan Check, Macy Henning, Timothy Henning and Mason Henning; great-grandchildren, Lydia, Chandler, Nahum, Finley and Josiah, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred loved to share Jesus with everyone he came in contact with. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Middleburg and took every opportunity to invite people to visit. When ending those conversations he would always say “it’s not where you go, it’s who you know!”
While our hearts are saddened, we can’t help but feel joy knowing he’s walking beside Jesus on the streets of gold!
