Frederick L. Voisen
December 9, 1939 – March 8, 2023
Frederick Voisen, 83, Middleburg, FL passed away Wednesday March 8, 2023.
Born to Oliver and Lucille Voisen on December 9, 1939, in St. Louis, MO., Fred was the youngest of 3 children. He joined the United States Navy at 17 and served for 22 years until he retired as a Senior Chief Radioman. While on active duty, Fred met, then married his wife, Dot, in Goose Creek, SC. They were stationed in Key West, FL, Philadelphia, PA, then at NAS Jax where they settled in Middleburg, FL. After retiring from the Navy, Fred began a second career in the AC/Refrigeration business.
Fred was a member of the American Legion Post 250, previously serving as Post Commander. He was also a judge and competitor for Memphis in May and Florida BBQ Association.
He loved spending time with family, fishing, shooting his air guns, and Barbeque. Whether he was cooking for family or competition, Fred enjoyed cooking (smoking) BBQ. For practice or competition, Fred loved shooting, often sharing his experience with his grandchildren.
Fred will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, and “life of the party”. He never met a stranger and shared his jokes and laughter freely. So many people have been blessed with his infectious personality; this certainly makes for happy memories of Fred.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of over 50 yrs., Dorothea Voisen, his children Steven Voisen, Linda Pinkston (Steve), Jeffrey Brown (Melba), Tammy Parks (Claude), Monique Kuchler (Brian), his grandchildren Melissa Cuevas (Kenneth), Nancy Voisen, Kristina Almy (Mike), Christopher Pinkston (Jordan), Erika Lade (Tim), Rio Tilton (Karina), Caleb Parks, Lauren Kuchler, and many Great-Grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30am, Thursday March 30, 2023, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
