Gail was born September 15, 1947 at Victoria Hospital in Miami, Florida. She is the daughter of the late Grover and Dorothy Salzer. She departed this world on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of love and warmth.
Growing up in South Florida, Gail attended Silver Bluff and Emerson Elementary, Riviera Junior High, and West Miami High School. As a child, she loved dancing and developed a passion for horses that lasted her lifetime. South Florida was her beloved home for most of her life until moving north to Jacksonville, Florida in the 1980’s.
Over the years, Gail embraced many roles: nurse, real estate agent, daycare owner, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Licensed Practical Nurse. She earned her LPN degree in 1994 and dedicated much of her career to Moosehaven Nursing Home in Orange Park. Her career, much like her life, was a testament to her nurturing spirit. Gail later retired to care for her late husband, Denver Breeding, during his battle with lung cancer, and after.
Gail was married to Denver Breeding on January 19, 1979 in Hialeah, Florida. Together they created cherished memories - enjoying football games at BKHS, dinners at Ms. Amanda’s (St. Johns Seafood), breakfast at country cabin, sleepovers with their grandchildren, Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings with all the family, award ceremonies, Fall festivals, school plays, band performances with their granddaughter, Clay Pal football, RRB flag football and basketball with their grandson, and a lot of McDonalds hot fudge sundaes along the way.
She was a devoted mother to her son, Michael, and her three children from her husband, Emlie, Benjamin, and David. Her love extended boundlessly to her beloved grandchildren, Callie, Michael Jr., Riley, Raegan, Carter, Chase, Jeffrey, Taylor, and Madison. She cherished her daughter-in-law, Stormy, as though she was her own. She treasured and loved Stormy’s family, Gail’s expanded family, Liz (Granny), Judy, Lorraine, Nicole, Michelle along with her extra grandchildren: Eryn, Vernon, Brady, Bryce, Hannah, Kayla, Nick, Melody, Ryan, Brandon, Lee, Ty, Carmen, Carlee, and Myles. Affectionately known as Mamaw, Gail was the heart of our family, deeply adored and cherished by all who knew her.
She was an amazing sister to her brother Grover III, and sister-in-law, Celia, and a wonderful Aunt to Grover IV, Greg, Grant, and Garrett. She had a heart that overflowed with love and compassion, ensuring that no one ever left her presence without feeling valued and cared for.
Gail will always be remembered for her generous spirit and nurturing nature. No one ever went without food or love in her presence. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel special. She delighted in spoiling the ones she loved, famously buying her nephew Grover a pony when he was 4 years old! As a wife, mother, friend, and person, she exemplified loyalty and devotion. Those who were fortunate enough to know her were truly blessed, wrapped in the warmth of her unwavering love and kindness. Gail’s legacy of compassion and joy will forever illuminate the hearts of all she touched.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Penney Farms Cemetery on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 2:00pm with Pastors Brian Sanderson and Tom Crawford officiating.
