Gary W. Givens, 72, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021. Born to Henry and Margaret Givens on March 21, 1949 in Jacksonville, FL.
He joined the army in 1967 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a truck driver for many years after that. He was married to Flora (Soapy) Givens for 53 years.
He enjoyed fishing, Nascar, John Wayne movies, feeding squirrels, spending time with his family and his grandkids, being in his man-cave, and working his puzzle books.
He will be remembered for always providing for his family, very colorful adjectives, his famous sayings, "Family always comes first" and "Put the shoe on the other foot" and for wearing a short sleeve button up shirt with his black hat.
He is survived by his loving wife, Soapy Givens, son, Michael (Mikey) Givens (Tabitha), daughter Michele (Punkie) Renaud (Jimmy), grandchildren: Brice Honeycutt (Bricey), Haleigh Gunn (Halo), Kacey Renaud (Toosie), Calvin Givens (Dude), Daphne Givens (Duckie), Margaret Renaud (Bootsie), Collin Givens (Bingo), Caydence Givens (Miss Kitty), and great grandchild, Gage Gunn.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 19, 2021 from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Congregational Holiness Church. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 11:00am at Congregational Holiness Church with Reverends Ronnie Surrency and Tommy Walker officiating. The graveside service will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery.
