George Baccash July 28, 1930 - September 6, 2017 George Baccash of Jacksonville, Florida passed away September 6, 2017 to be with God and his grandson Ronnie "Little George" Pickett, whom he loved dearly. George is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Frances E Baccash; his two children Richard B Baccash (Sandy) and Cynthia B Pickett (Jeff); his two grandchildren Jennifer D Stadler (Gary) and Ronnie George Pickett (deceased); his two great-grandchildren Brandon and Nicholas Stadler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and one great-niece. George, a native of Jacksonville, served his country in the 86th Fighter Interception Squadron in Italy, teaching radar while working with the Italian Air Force. He was Honorably Discharged in 1953. He and the love of his life, Frances, were married at St. Paul's Catholic Church on February 14, 1954. They opened and operated Zeke’s Sundries for 5 years. George began his career in the insurance field after they sold the Sundries store. He continued to work and was hired on as the Northeast Florida District Manager for AAA for the next 35 years. George became a Morocco Shriner here in Jacksonville in 1979, and held many positions including - Morocco Shrine Club Coordinator, Paper Sale Chairman, Morocco Commander Legion of Honor, and Southeastern Commander Legion of Honor. His most important position was that of Divan Treasurer Emeritus for the Morocco Shrine. George was a member of St Paul's Catholic Church on Park Street since 1954, and served as Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years. Services will be held at St Paul's Catholic Church, 2609 Park Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32205, on September 23, 2017 with family receiving guests inside the church at 9:30am and Mass following at 10:00am. A small repast will follow in the church auditorium, on premises. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations please be made to the Jacksonville Morocco Shriners PTF (Patient Transportation Fund), 3800 St John's Bluff Road South, Jacksonville, Florida 32224.
