George Edward Ruckersfeldt

George Edward Ruckersfeldt died on June 28, 2023 at the age of 85. He was born in Queens, New York on March 18, 1938, the son of George Jacob and Georgette Evelyn (Sommer) Ruckersfeldt.  

George attended West Hempstead High School and was the senior class president, president of the Honor Society and captain of the football team. He went on to study at Princeton University until he was accepted at the United States Naval Academy and graduated in 1960. He then went to flight school. He flew the P5M sea plane and the P3 Orion. He retired from the United States Navy in 1980. He was part owner of First Coast Calibration until 1998 when he retired. He loved gardening and woodworking. He married the love of his life Barbara Althea Hawkins in 1960. Last December they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife Barbara. He was a loving father to son George Elwood and his wife Dana (Rosenberg), and three daughters Dana Klepoch, Jill Morgan and Wendy Richardson. He had 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. George’s family was his heart and his world.
