George O. Zavakos

George O. Zavakos, 79, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on June 6, 2018 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida. He was born July 27, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. Zavakos and Carmen B. Wilson Zavakos.
He leaves behind his loving, devoted wife of 18 years, Sarah “Janie” Zavakos; children, Lisa Worrell (Neal), Laura Wood (Pete), Annette Jordan, Melody Loftin, Ryan Edghill, Gene Lee Loftin (Margaret), and Angela S. Wade; grandchildren, Michael Lipscomb, Nicholas Jordan, Tasia, Barrett, Thomas, and Tiffany Ryan, and Kristi Loftin; nine great-grandchildren; and a half-brother Ronald Jackson.
George was honored to have served in the Air National Guard in Dayton, Ohio. He then went on to earn his Associates Degree in Computer Sciences and then went to NAS Jax Naval Base working in Navy Health Care medicine as a Supervisor earning top accommodations. He retired in 2003 and was very active in his community where he was able to make significant changes while serving as a HOA President for nine years.
We will lovingly remember George “Dad & Grandpa” for his uncanny sense of humor, his mad skill for fishing and boating and his passion for cruising the world. He had a passion to always help others and an undying love for his wife.
We will miss him dearly.
