Gifford "Whitey" Nevins passed away January 18, 2021 in the Moosehaven Health Care Center at the age of 97.
He was born to Herman and Anna Mae Nevins on July 11, 1923 in Des Moines, IA.
Whitey served in the US Navy during World War II. He joined right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and spent four years including the Battle of Midway. He was a Cook First Class.
He was tractor operator for the Public Works of Seaside, NJ and retired in 2000.
Whitey became affiliated with the Loyal Order of Moose on June 9, 1986 when he joined Ortley Beach, NJ Lodge #399. He was Past Governor on May 1, 1995 and sponsored 14 members in his lifetime.
He came to Moosehaven on October 1, 2015 where he resided for 5 years.
Whitey will be laid to rest in Ortley Beach, New Jersey.
He is survived by his good friend Don Ott of Seaside Park, New Jersey.
