Helena Chila passed away quietly on March 19,2021, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 75 years old. She was born on August 20, 1945 in Westeremden, Groningan, the Netherlands. In 1948 her family immigrated to the USA where they settled upon Montana. They resided in Montana for 5 years, before moving to New Jersey. She graduated from Newton High School. She attended business school and in 1971 Helena married Richard Chila.
She was a stay-at-home mother and assisted her husband with the family business. Later on, she worked at Burlington Coat Factory as a retail associate for 20 years. She was affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church. She had a passion for reading and loved books and spending time with her granddaughter. She was a dedicated wife and mother and a compassionate woman.
There is comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is in the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ, but will be greatly missed by her daughter Christine and granddaughter Isabella and surviving family members including friends. She is survived by 1 brother and 1 sister. She was preceded in death by two older brothers.
A memorial service will be held on March 29, 2021 at 3:30 at the residence of her daughter Christine Grullon.
A special thank you from the family to Westminster Woods at Julington Creek and Hospice for the heartfelt care she received.
