Henry Joseph Lavertue

Henry Joseph Lavertue (78) of Fleming Island Florida, suffered a heart attack and passed away on April 29th, 2023, surrounded by family. Henry, fondly known as Hank, was born to Martha and Henry Lavertue, on November 10th, 1944, in Rochester, New Hampshire. After graduating from Spalding Highschool Henry joined the Navy as a Seabee and proudly served his country completing two tours in Vietnam. After retiring from military service, he combined his love of flying by earning a commercial pilots license and becoming a flight instructor. He also drove truck before finally retiring from secular work. As a keen sailor, Henry could always be found “tinkering” on his sailboat. He also enjoyed motorcycling and was the Recreational Vehicle FMCA Southeast Area North Florida Vice President where he enjoyed many years of travelling the open road. Henry is survived by his wife Evangeline, his four children Marianne, Christina, Michael and Joyce as well as his two stepchildren Tina and Geoff. Along with three grandchildren, Jeremy, Jennifer and Daisy he also leaves 13 great grandchildren. Henry’s memorial will take place on Monday May 15th at 2:00pm. The service will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Humane Society in Henry’s name.
