Herman Lewis Hodges, Jr. (Buddy) Buddy Hodges, 85, of Green Cove Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 29, 2017. He was born on July 7, 1931 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Herman and Myrtle Hodges. Buddy is a Korean War veteran, he was employed by the Alachua County School Board. He later worked as a plumbing contractor for over 35 years in Green Cove Springs. His fondest memories were of the many projects he handled at the Clay County Port. He had a great love for nature and wildlife, and enjoyed fishing, hunting and being on the water, especially Orange Lake, FL where he spent much of his early life. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Orange Lake Fire District in the 80's. He loved to take family and friends for airboat rides and share his many stories. He had a passion for life and never knew a stranger. He is survived by his spouse, Gail Wagner, daughters, Elisabeth Sharret(Bill Sharrett), Carol King(Darrell King), sons, Buddy Hodges, Chris Wagner and Gary Wagner(Tammy Wagner), grandchildren, Alexander Molina, Christopher DeLaRosa, Zachary Scott, Caroline Scott,Rachelle King, Cooper Wagner, Gracie Wagner, Grady Wagner, sisters Myrle Masters and Gayle Masters,(Marvin Masters), brother, Randy Hodges(Edi Hodges), and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held honoring Buddy on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 3:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. Tim McDaniel officiating.
