Indus Darlene Gadd of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 19, 2024. She was born to her parents, John Otto Loughridge and Alice Geneva Tyree in the small town of Prairie Grove, Arkansas on April 24, 1946. She was married to her loving husband, Roger Carr Gadd for 56 years. The Navy moved Roger and Indus several times early in their marriage, but after retiring from the military, they settled in Orange Park, FL where they lived in the same home for over 40 years. Indus loved cardinals, flowers, angels, and all things pink. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cross-stitch, and making floral arrangements and wreaths. She loved plants, with roses being her favorite, and had a special gift of growing orchids and bringing sad, dying plants from the nursery back to life. Although she didn’t love cooking, Indus made the best yummy potato salad and banana pudding.
Indus was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Loughridge, and four of her siblings: Leona Dobbs (Marvin), Wanda Leach (John), Johnny Loughridge Thelma), and William Loughridge. Indus is survived by her husband, Roger Gadd and their only child, Emily Bennett (Bruce) of Hollis, NH, and their four grandchildren; Alexander (Joycelyn), William, Oliver, and Carter.
Indus’ memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 1:00pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel and will be officiated by Dr. Russell Franklin.
In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
