Irene Helen Aguilar, 80, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away April 13, 2017 from an extended illness. She was born June 28, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Tony and Tomasa (Rios) Aguilar. Irene was a resident of Green Cove Springs for over 40 years and a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church as well as a member of the Counsel of Catholic Women. She received her Masters of Science and Health Science from University of North Florida and specialized in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Irene was a member of the Certification Board for Addiction Professionals of Florida and the women of the Moose as a champion for children. She loved her garden as she worked in the yard, planting and pruning daily. Irene was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family. She is predeceased by sons, Jim Padilla and Tom Padilla and survived by son, Peter Padilla (Angie); daughters, Velinda Roe (Michael) and Julie Buckhalter; sisters, Rose Guevara and Alice Smith; grandchildren, Chelsey, Richard, Arthur Padilla, Karin Novolta, Giselle Padilla and Stefan Pena (Meagan); great-grandchildren, Christian, Chloe, Delilah and Dominic; nieces and nephews, Jodi, Cris Guevara (Darlene), Rosemarie Valencia (Al), Evelyn Sanchez (Johnny), Victor Guevara (Cathy), Debbie, Tony and Betty Ann with many other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 7190 Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 with Fr. Mike Pendergraft and Fr.
