Jack Hefferin, 87 years old, from Green Cove Springs Florida went to his great reward on June 16th, 2023. He was born To John Dillard Blackwood and Corie Virginia Gee on March 6th, 1936 in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Survived by his sister Shirley Macinerny and brother Rainey Turpin.
Jack graduated from Clay High School in 1955. He went on to serve in the Marine Reserves 1955 to 1956 and served in the United States Navy from July 1956 to May 1960 with a Good Conduct Medal Awarded for service with an Honorable Discharge.
In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart Virginia Rose Judy. He was blessed with two wonderful daughters Beverly and Sheryl. He was graced with his grandchildren Jessica, Monica (and Bradley), Johnathan (and Justine), Jackson and Erica (and Nickolas). He spoiled his great grandchildren Kaden, Roscella and Josephine.
He was an Ace Refrigeration Mechanic for Pantry Pride, Hussmann Refrigeration and then retired from Fournier Refrigeration.
Proudly sponsored the NRA and M1 Grand Collectors Club. He was an avid gun collector and marksman. Fluent in American history and the Great War of the Northern Aggression. Supporter of Ole Miss and any opponent playing against LSU. He spent most days with his beautiful wife Virginia, chauffeuring her around their land and basking in their good fortune.
Jack went out with his boots on and doing what he loved, because he never knew the word “Quit”. The world will be a little quieter now, without his stories and booming laughter. It’s going to be a little less brighter without his smile. But rest assured he is still given ‘em hell… because that’s just the southern way.
In Lieu of Flowers: Please donate in Jack's name to the Food Pantry of Green Cove Springs, 1107 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. Green Cove Springs, FL 32043
