Jackie “Jack“ Welkenbach of Orange Park, Florida passed away on Tuesday, 17 August 2021. He was born on 1 August 1933 to Lee and Lois Welkenbach in Flatrock, Michigan. He was Retired Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy. He was an Aviation Mechanic and he held an Associates of Arts Degree from Florida Junior College of Jacksonville. He was married on August 25, 1962, for 59 years, to Doris Jean Welkenbach, retired educator.
Jack was a faithful member of Orange Park Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Order of Masonic Lodge, #267, where he was Grand Master in 1984. Furthermore, he was a member of the Scottish Rite.
He was an avid gun enthusiast and will always be remembered for his generosity and his humor. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Stanley and Lois Welkenbach, and his sister-in-law Mildred Reed. He is survived by his beautiful bride, Doris Jean Welkenbach, of Orange Park; his daughters, Susan Welkenbach Lerdo, of Harsefeld, Germany, Laura Welkenbach of Orange Park, and Terri Bentley of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 3:00pm on 18 October 2021, at the Orange Park Masonic Lodge #267. The civilian graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30pm on 20 October 2021, at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Reverend John Diller of the Orange Park Presbyterian Church officiating. Following the graveside ceremony, fellowship will follow at the Orange Park Presbyterian Church at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriner‘s Hospital for Children or our local First Responders of Northeast Florida would be greatly appreciated.
