James Lowell Brown, 84, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2022 in the presence of his loving family. “PaPa”, as he was known to his family, was born to Walter and Daisy Brown in Fall Branch, Tennessee on January 17, 1938. He was a cherished father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He has gone to Heaven to join his beloved wife of 60 years, Carolyn Marie.
He had a full life of family, fast cars, and golf, making an official hole in one - and even “shooting his age” at 82. He was active in the Lutheran Church for many years. He was quick with a corny Dad joke and was generous and loving. His version of the Davy Crockett song forever will be sung by generations of Browns to come. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force as a young man, and eventually went on to work for the U.S. Department of Energy for the majority of his career. He was a sought-after expert in the fields of nuclear weapons and firearms safety for the U.S. Department of Energy, consulting for the U.S. Government until the end.
He leaves behind daughters Sherri Bishop and Lorye Vandiver; sons-in-law Randy Bishop and Wade Vandiver; granddaughter Lauren Bishop; grandson Bryce Bishop; grandson-in-law Adam Fabian; granddaughter-in-law Hannah Bishop; and great-grandson Luke Maverick Fabian.
James will be interred at Bay Pines National Cemetery next to his dear wife Carolyn at a later date. There will be a private Family Memorial gathering.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society (here).
