James Allen Henslee, known to many as "Jim," passed away on November 17, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent's Clay County Hospital in Middleburg, Florida, following a brief illness. He was 67 years old.
Born in Orange County, California, on July 24, 1957, to Gene Henslee and Violet Alvarez. Jim was raised in Fremont, California, by Bill and Violet Johnston. He attended American High School in Fremont, where he spent his childhood years. In 1974, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving honorably for four years in the motor pool. After his military service, Jim began his nearly five-decade-long career with the Department of Defense as an Aircraft Structural Mechanic. He retired in 2024 after a long and dedicated career.
In 1995, Jim was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, but his strength, resilience, and love for life never wavered. His family recalls that despite the challenges of his condition, Jim continued to lead a full and active life. His passion for motorcycles, particularly Harley-Davidsons, was a central part of his identity, earning him the affectionate nickname "Panhead Jim." Jim was also a talented painter and airbrush artist, skills he used to customize motorcycles for friends and fellow enthusiasts.
Jim was a loving and devoted brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Charmayne Henslee, his daughter Tasha (Michael) Trinidad, and his sons Christopher (Kim) Landsiedel, Adam Henslee, and Jason Landsiedel. He is also survived by his sister, Denise (Henslee) Schiell. Jim’s five grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Papa," were a great source of joy in his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Johnston and his parents, Bill and Violet Johnston.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, dedication to his family and career, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.
