James Joseph Lloyd, Jr.

James Joseph Lloyd, Jr., 84, Fleming Island, FL, passed away on November 5, 2021. He was an only child to his parents, James Joseph Lloyd and Margaret Ann Lee, born September 16, 1937 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Mr. Lloyd happily served in the U.S. Navy for 25 years, and after retiring, had another fulfilling career at Clay County School Board teaching math at Middleburg High School. He was a good and faithful husband to his wife, Sharon, for his last 40 years. He will be remembered fondly for his strong character and dedication to his work and family responsibilities. He lovingly cared for his many pets including birds, dogs, and orphan cats. He loved feeding birds, boating, fishing, reading, and eating a good breakfast. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann, with whom he had five children. He is survived by his children, James J. Lloyd, III, St. Augustine, Linda Ann Lloyd of Orange Park, Sandra Carmen Lloyd of Middleburg, Florida, his twins, Jon David and Charles Michael Lloyd of Apopka and Ovieda, Florida. He is also survived by his wife, Sharon, and his step- children, Melanie Bartholomew of Orange Park, and Dr. Timothy B. Skelton of Gulfport, Mississippi, as well as sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his name to either St. Jude’s. Research Hospital or the American Lung Association. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 10:30am on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
