Soon after graduating from high school in Oklahoma City, Jim joined the U.S. Army and attended radar repair school in New Jersey. Upon graduation, he volunteered to become an instructor at the U.S. Army Guided Missile School in Huntsville, Alabama. That started a 38-year career working in electronics and guided missile technology at locations throughout the U.S. and some foreign locations. He retired from RCA Government Services, General Electric Government Services, and Lockheed Government Services where he held various technical and management positions. His work at Cape Canaveral, Florida and on a civilian missile tracking ship were the most memorable. Seventeen moves and ever-changing career assignments resulted in bumps in his personal life. While his personal life included several marriages, he ended happily married to Helen for over 29 years.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Monroe A. and Clara (Lee) Moore and grandson Aaron Moore.
Jim is survived by sons, James R. Moore, Jr. (Brenda) and Mark A. Moore; daughters, Ashley Hodge (Blake) and Tara L. Garvin; brother, Gary V. Moore (Marilyn); grandchildren, Michael Moore, Destinie Moore, Ava Garvin, and Trace Hodge; and great-granddaughter, Hannah Moore.
The family will receive friends at 10:00am on Friday, February 5, 2021 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with a memorial service starting at 11:00am where Rev. Canon Aaron Smith will be officiating.
