James Lawrence Wilkins of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on February 16, 2022.
James was the son of Madge and James Wilkins born on January 23, 1937 in Graham, Kentucky.
James graduated from Mackenzie High School, Detroit Michigan class of 1955. James went on to join the Navy later that year. He served his country for 20 years, retiring as a Navy Chief Petty Officer in 1975. James went on to work at Florida Steel and NADEP before retiring.
James was a master tinkerer, he loved to build Guns, fix watches, he loved anything Science related.
James (Jim) will be remembered for being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and for his love of life and family.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Jo Wilkins and is survived by his present wife of 13 years, Arlene Wilkins.
James leaves behind his 3 children, Robert L. Sr. Wilkins, Rebecca Wilkins Long and Russell L. Wilkins. Their spouses, Samantha Wilkins, Tommy Long and Deborah Wilkins. Grand children, Brandon, Robert Jr., Jessica, Caroline, Ashley, Arron, Seth and Jack. Great Grandchildren, Eliza, JR, Bella, Aniston, Blakely, Zander, Henry and baby boy Long, and baby boy Wilkins. Stepson Michael Spangler, step grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle, Alexis and Brent.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 pm, Monday, February 21, 2022 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Rev. Jake Young officiating and military honors will be rendered.
Family will be receiving family and friends at Jim’s residence, address will be provided after service.
