Janis Jacqueline Hayes

Janis Jacqueline Hayes, age 82 went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her husband of 27 years, Dick Hayes on June 5, 2023. She was born to Louis and Jane Semrau on October 20, 1940 in Buffalo, NY. She graduated from Kenmore West High School and became a United States Marine in 1959. She worked as a USPS Mail Carrier and possessed an entrepreneurial spirit running a number of different businesses throughout her lifetime. She was a devoted Christian and faithfully attended church. Janis had an outgoing personality, making friends wherever she went, and she was an amazing aunt. She and her husband were always spending time with their nieces and nephews for sleepovers, camping, amusement parks and vacations and she continued this love for her family until the end. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard (Dick) Hayes, whom she missed daily and would often rejoice at the thought of seeing him again, and her sister Sharon. She is survived by her stepson Richard Hayes (Maria), brothers Louis, Allen and Lee, and sister Adrienne; and many nieces and nephews who miss her dearly! Her family will be having a private celebration of life. In lieu of flowers Janis would’ve loved for you to donate to your church, or to the Women’s Marine Association, both of which she was so proud to be a part of.
