Jeffrey "Jeff" K. Babbitt

After a long, hard fought battle, Jeffrey (Jeff) K. Babbitt (65) passed away of natural causes on the evening of March 26, 2021. 

Jeff was born in Indianapolis, IN in 1956.  A longtime resident of Middleburg, FL, he was a professional custom cabinet maker for over 25 years. His craftsmanship can be found in thousands of fine homes all over northeast Florida. Beyond carpentry, there was not much that Jeff couldn't do, fix or make.  

He was a good and humble man who loved his family above all else. His heart was filled with pride at the many accomplishments of his children. 

Those who knew him will remember him as the "guy that everybody liked". Never boastful. An easygoing, hard working man with simple needs. 

Jeff kept a folded one dollar bill tucked away in his wallet. He never had to say that he "didn't have a dollar to his name".  On at least several occasions, his wife Cathy witnessed him giving a buck or two to a stranger, down on their luck, who might have asked for some spare change.

He had a great sense of humor and loved to hear a good joke.  He and Cathy would often laugh until they were in tears over something they found funny.  Many others also enjoyed that fun with him.

His favorite place to be was in his garage, having a beer, listening to his favorite music while watching a movie and fixing or making something or another. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years and riding his motorcycle up until the last year or so.

Family and friends alike, knew they were always welcome to stop by "the garage" for a visit to catch up, while enjoying a beer and a laugh.  

To say Jeff will be missed is an understatement. The love we have for him is immeasurable and cuts to the bone.  His absence will always be felt. Our pain is bittersweet, eased by knowing he is no longer suffering and his frustration and anguish are now gone. He is truly "home".

He is preceded in death by Gene Babbitt (father) and Bette Babbitt (mother). 

He is survived by Catherine (Cathy) Babbitt (wife); Jacob Babbitt (son); Jared Babbitt (son); Laura Ownby (daughter) and her three children: Kiley, Landon, and Jenna; Jerry Babbitt (brother); Judy Morning (sister)

The family is hosting a Celebration in Honor Of Jeff's Life at Laura's home for all who would like to attend on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
