Jelks Turner Strickland

Jelks Turner Strickland, 86, of Orange Park, FL passed away on March 8, 2022. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park Florida for 51 Years and Faithfully Served the Lord his entire Life.

Jelks Turner Strickland Retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer (NCO E-9) and was a Retiree from the U.S. Navy’s Civil Service System. With his combined Service, Jelks Turner Strickland served the Department of Defense and the U.S. Navy for 50 Years. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judith Elaine Spencer of Orange Park FL.

Jelks is survived by his wife, Sylvia Annette Strickland of Orange Park FL; children, Lewis Hiram Strickland of Colorado Springs CO and Cheri Huyser of Orange Park FL; daughter-in-law, Caroline Christa Strickland (Hiram’s wife) of Colorado Springs CO; grandchildren, Jeremy Strickland of Colorado Springs CO, Matthew Spencer of Clay Hill FL, Joshua Spencer of Clay Hill FL and Emily Spencer of Clay Hill FL; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Spencer of Clay Hill FL, Mason Spencer of Clay Hill FL and Emma Spencer of Clay Hill FL.

The family will receive friends from 9:00am to 10:00am on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Orange Park.  Funeral services will start at 10:00am with Dr. David Tarkington officiating and burial with military honors will follow at 2:00pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
