Jeremy John McKay

June 10, 1974 — November 27, 2019

Jeremy J. McKay 45, of Orange Park, FL passed away peacefully, holding his wife’s hand on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeremy was born on June 10, 1974 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Middleburg High School and later joined the United States Marine Corps. Following his time in the Marine Corps and later the Clay County School Board, Jeremy decided he missed the brotherhood of the military and decided to join the Clay County Fire/Rescue department where he was employed as a Firefighter and later promoted to Engineer/Paramedic.

Jeremy enjoyed many activities including golf and bowling, but none more than spending time with his family. He was happily married to Tanya M. (Cummings) McKay for 21 loving years and was blessed with three amazing daughters Teagan, Adysen & Everlyn.

Jeremy will be most remembered for his kind heart, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He was not known around the fire station to shy away from a fun-spirited prank. Jeremy was also known for his ability to chime in with facts and tidbits most would have purged from their minds. He was a quiet and content man who enjoyed the company of people and making others laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael H. and Carol V. McKay (FL) and his brother Cory M. McKay (MN).

A memorial service with honors will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Hibernia Baptist Church, 7100 US Hwy 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003 with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested supporting the Clay County Professional Firefighters, Local 3362 in their efforts to build a memorial in Jeremy’s honor. P.O. Box 817 Orange Park, FL 32067-0817
