JoAnn Cox Burris, 80, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2020 with loved ones by her side. JoAnn was born to James Hoyt and Ella Mae Cox on Saturday, June 10, 1939 in Williamsburg, South Carolina. In the early 1960’s, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida.
Jobs she enjoyed were Lerner’s Department Store, where she retired after about 15 years; Pensacola Airport and Lil Champ, where she was a cashier and made new friends daily. Some of her hobbies were dancing, going on cruises, camping with family, watching races with her baby brother, reading books, doing word searches, watching TV, and crocheting. But her favorite was fishing! Don’t forget—feeding the great-grandchildren fruit and watching them play on her hill.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents, James Hoyt and Ella Mae Cox; sister, Mae Elizabeth “Betty” Faulk; brothers, James “Bud” Cox, Billy Wayne Cox, and Clemmie Gene Cox; grandchildren, Spring Marie Thomas, Robert Daniel “Robbie” Thomas, and Michelle Williams.
