Joanne Elizabeth Edmondson was born to Jacob W Cosey and Janice E Cosey on May 25, 1936 in Chambersburg Pennsylvania and passed away on May 20, 2020 surrounded by family in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She was 83 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Edward E Edmondson, and son, Michael E Edmondson. She is survived by her daughter, Melinda E Proctor of Ocean Springs, MS, granddaughter Kayla E Proctor of Orlando, FL, grandson Andrew L Proctor of Ocean Springs, MS, granddaughter and grandson-in-law Scott P and Stephanie M Dunaway of Hoover, AL, two sisters Peggy Gum and Patty Hopkins of Seaford, DE, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Sunny.
Joanne retired from the Clay County School District after many years working in the dietary department. She was known to pay for the lunches of students who were unable to pay. She was an avid Florida State University booster and fan of sports. Her favorite past-times include watching any Florida State sporting event, catching up on her favorite soap operas, and spending quality time with her Sunny.
The Visitation will be at Broadus-Raines Chapel on Thursday, May 28, 2020 from 6-7 PM. Graveside service will be at Penney Farms Cemetery on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Lung Cancer Foundation of America in honor of her brave and valiant fight against her Non-small cell lung cancer.
