Joe Hapi

Joe Hapi, age 69, May 25^th, 2021

Joe is survived by his wife Glenda; and sister Sim Mihi, his children Vanessa, Melissa, Joshua, and Sarah of New Zealand and Australia, Stepdaughter Tracy, and 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother Philip and sister Whaiora

Joe devoted much of his life to service. He graduated from LDS Church College and was a fierce athlete, playing rugby and basketball. He completed his LDS mission in the Philippines and served many years as a New Zealand police officer. Joe always had a song in his heart and shared it with his beautiful voice and entertained in Waikiki Hawaii where he met Glenda and moved to Tennessee. There they had a hugely successful entertainment business and entertained countless people with not only his singing but his bubbly personality and stage presence. Then moving to Florida, a whole new group of people got to know and love him and enjoy all that he was. Everyone knew Big Joe! He was deeply involved in giving of both his time and talents, but mostly his love and kindness his whole life. He was devoted in his faith and shared his love of God most purely and openly through his everyday life. He enjoyed family and friends, a good song, a good meal, a good movie, and a midnight ride in his golf cart.  His family and friends will always remember him as a kind gentle giant; “the kindest person I ever knew.”

A family service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Orange Park. A celebration of his life with family and friends will be held at the Moosehaven Michigan Building June 19^th 3-6pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate. Please RSVP to Tracy (text) 904-210-4847.
