Joe H. McDade, born on April 22, 1955, peacefully passed away in the comforting presence of his beloved family. Born in Bonifay, Florida, Joe was the cherished son of the late Bruce McDade and Mary Alice McDade. In addition to his loving parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Bruce McDade Jr., Joseph Eugene McDade (Gene), and William McDade, as well as his sister: Jeanie (Cricket), Marie McDade. He is survived by his devoted sister Alice (Faye) Geiger and his wife Debora McDade-Machia. Joe leaves behind a legacy that includes his son Joe McDade (Kayla), his daughters Misty McDade-Machia (Donnie), and Debora McDade-Thomas, as well as his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to his niece Tina Geiger-Kerr and great-niece Sara Exum for the exceptional loving care they provided to Joe during his time of need.
Joe received his education in Green Cove Springs, Florida, where he spent his formative years. Following his schooling, he held various positions throughout his life. He worked as a bridge tender in Jacksonville, Florida for a couple of years before serving as a deckhand on barges out of Jacksonville. Joe dedicated several years as a skilled machine operator in New York before finding his final place of employment at Grumpy's Restaurant in Orange Park, Florida While Joe had many interests and hobbies, some of his greatest passions included skulls, canes, fishing, boating, and spending cherished moments with his faithful companion and partner-in-crime, his dog Jax. Joe will be remembered not only for his strong will but also for the deep love and bond he held with his family and friends. His presence will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May Joe H. McDade rest in eternal peace, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories for those whose lives he touched. He will forever be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, October 9, 2023 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Russell Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Ronnie Surrency officiating.
