John “Johnny” Seaborn Adair Sr.

(Aug 30, 1946 – June 7, 2019)

John “Johnny” Seaborn Adair, Sr. of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully on June 7th, 2019 surrounded by his loving family and special friends.  John was born on August 30th, 1946 in Waycross, Georgia to J.A. Adair and Wynelle Wainwright Adair.  He graduated from Waycross High School in 1964 and was a member of the varsity football and track teams.  He then attended East Tennessee State University.

He married Donna Rowland in 1968, and they had two sons, John, Jr. and Shane.  While living in Georgia, he was a member of the Georgia National Guard from 1968-1974.  After moving to Jacksonville in the early 1970’s, he became a successful salesman first in the clothing retail industry, and then in the heating and air conditioning business.  He was a member of the Jacksonville Jaycees, and he also volunteered as a baseball and soccer coach while his sons were growing up.

In February of 2009, he received the gift of life as a lung transplant recipient at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.  After his transplant, he became an active member of the Lung Transplant Support Group at Mayo, where he served as vice president.  John was able to touch many lives with his God given time to help others with their recovery.  He was a wonderful support to so many transplant patients, always there for them at any time for support and advice.  He was known for his positive attitude, regardless of the challenges he sometimes faced as a transplant patient.   He will also be fondly remembered as an avid Georgia Bulldog supporter, a great storyteller, and a loyal friend to many.

John is preceded in death by his parents, J. A. and Wynelle Adair, and his brother, Jay Adair.  He is survived by his loving sister, Karen Adair Ellis, sons John Jr. & his wife Dana, Shane & his wife Jennifer, two grandsons Bryson and Lance, Aunt Jackie Wainwright Nelson, and nephew Jason Adair.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Mayo lung transplant team, nurses, and staff for their amazing and loving care.

Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 20th, 2019 at Grace Anglican Church, 5804 Highway 17, Fleming Island, Florida with Rev.
