John Clinton McCrork, Jr., 83, of Orange Park, Fl, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 with his wife at his bedside.  He was born on December 20, 1938 in Norristown, PA, the only child of Elmira Gulliver McCrork and John Clinton McCrork, Sr.  John grew up in Blue Bell, PA.
     After graduating from Ambler High School in 1956, John received an appointment to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD from which he  graduated in 1960, was  commissioned Ensign in the United States Navy, and went to Naval Flight School in Pensacola, FL.  While there he was designated Naval Aviator, qualified as helicopter pilot and was promoted to LieutenantJG.  After completing training in the SH-3 Sea King helicopter in Key West, FL John was assigned to Helicopter Squadron 11 at Quonset Point, RI completing Navy Legal Officer school while enroute and was promoted to Lieutenant.  Subsequent tours included NROTC instructor at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL, HS-3 in Norfolk, VA and Quonset Point, RI, HS-1 also at Quonset Point and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.  After years of Anti-submarine Warfare duty on the east coast, John went to Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1 at Imperial Beach, CA.  He was promoted to Commander.  He served as operations officer of Naval Station Adak in Alaska; then returned to HS-1, then located at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, as Executive Officer.  John's final tour was as Chief Staff Officer and Executive Officer at Naval Air Facility Kadena on Okinawa where he qualified in and flew the Navy C-12 fixed wing aircraft. He retired from the Navy in 1982 to Orange Park, FL
     John and his wife, Lynne, were married in 1984,  He assumed duties as a househusband while Lynne worked as an RN.  
     For many years John was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Orange Park where he served as director of the property board and played in the church's handbell choir.  In his last years he was a member of Crossroad Lutheran Church in Fleming Island, FL.  He was a member of the Sonshine North Via de Cristo community.  John was an Eagle Scout and as an adult remained active in the Boy Scouts of America in both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts while his sons and grandsons were in Scouts.  For eleven years John was president of the Foxridge Civic Association.  He also served as local elections precinct clerk, was a Guardian ad Litem, served on the Florida Lemon Law board, and managed rental properties.
     John enjoyed boating,camping, water skiing and snow skiing, travelling to visit family and friends, and going to garage sales.  He will be remembered for quietly helping people in their time of need whenever a car broke down or there was a broken appliance or other household problem that he could fix.  John loved his pets:  a long list of German Shepherds and other dogs, and cats who wait for him beside the Rainbow Bridge.
     John had a blended family and made no distinction between children and step-children.  He was preceded in death by his sons, Thomas and Robert McCrork.  Surviving John are his wife, Lynne; daughter, Judy (Michael) Jones;
sons, Lee, Gordon, and Paul (Tia) Doty; granddaughters Nisha and Kayleigh LaDue, Emily Jones, Kassandra and Caitlyn Doty, and Bonnie Doty; grandsons Alex (Chelsea), Taylor, and Casey Guilmartin; and great granddaughters Gracelynn Jackson and Juniper Guilmartin.  
     A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 16th at 2 pm at Crossroad Lutheran Church, Fleming Island, FL, Pr.
