Johnny Glen Terherst
November 12, 1963 – July 29, 2022
Johnny Glen Terherst, age 58, of Middleburg, FL, beloved pawpaw, father, and brother, passed away Friday, July 29th while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to Wendell Wayne Terherst and Shirley May Potts in Harrison, AR on November 12th, 1963. Both remarried, providing Johnny with seven stepsiblings, one half-brother, and two half-sisters making Johnny the fifth of 11 children.
In his youth, Johnny enjoyed offshore fishing, and fishing remained a huge passion for him throughout his life. He had no fear of consequences while performing Evel Knievel stunts on his bicycle and rattle snake hunting in the woods.
Years later, Johnny married Michele French of Longwood, FL, and they were blessed with an amazing son, beautiful daughter, and five wonderful grandchildren.
Johnny had a knack for fixing things from go-carts to race cars and everything in between. He spent many of his years as a mechanic (‘mec-i-neckin’ as he would say) but also had experience building tennis courts, docks, and pouring concrete (mud) with his dad. He enjoyed water skiing, snorkeling, hunting, and playing horseshoes among other things.
He will be remembered for his unique word pronunciations, hilarious song improvisations, and care-free attitude towards life.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents; stepbrother, Jimmy R. Cochran; and half-brother, Mark W. Bramlett.
Johnny is survived by his parents and stepmother; eight siblings; his children, Jacob Michael Terherst and Jessie LeeAnn Rhoden; and his grandchildren, Gentry, Greyson, Colt, Taylor, and Cricket.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13th at Broadus-Raines Chapel, 501 Spring Street, Green Cove Springs, FL 32043 (Doors will be opened at 10:30 a.m.) Family and friends will gather to share memories and offer condolences at this celebration of life.
