Joseph David Kerrigan, 84, of Green Cove Springs, FL, died in Jacksonville on October 5, 2019.
Joe is survived by his wife Alice of 29 years; sons, Joe Kerrigan and Tom Kerrigan; stepdaughters, Alisa McElhenny, Christine Yadeski and Karen Kennedy; along with many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Alice Kerrigan, and stepdaughter Roberta (Nadine) Kennedy.
Joe was a talented musician and writer. He began his career playing the saxophone and piano in the esteemed Navy Band. He served on the famous aircraft carrier, the USS Midway, on which he spent 4 years at sea, traveling the world entertaining dignitaries and troops with his soulful saxophone and piano. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in clinical psychology and went on to write for Life Magazine and to author a novel, Greed. He held various positions in marketing throughout his life for many different advertising agencies and companies.
A memorial service celebrating Joe’s life will be held at the Magnolia Point Golf and Country Club on Friday, October 11, 2019, at 1pm.
