Joseph Venuto, Jr.

Joey Venuto was born to Joseph and Anna Venuto on April 19, 1944 in Vineland, New Jersey. He was raised Catholic and his faith was very important to him. After attending high school, Joey went to work at Molicodt Clothing factory for 14 years.

He was an active member in his local Moose Lodge 434 in Vineland, N.J. Joey was employed by his lodge for many years at a Janitor. He retired in 1999.

Joey joined our Moosehaven family on August 27, 2012, and was an active member in our community. Joey’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and he enjoyed the many Christmas trees on display across campus. He enjoyed playing darts, bowling, fishing and dancing. Joey’s favorite thing to do was dance and he was good at it. Joey could always be found on the dance floor at a campus event, or cutting the rug at Lakeshore Lodge 2020 and Mandarin Lodge 42. 

He most especially looked forward to Hamburger night at Palatka Lodge #184. 

Joey was a good friend to many, quick to greet others with a wave and a smile that would light up your day. Quitting time was made special for employees when he would stand on the porch at Florida Hall, waving good night and telling us all to drive safe. Joey had a way of making everyone feel special. 

Joey leaves behind his campus mom, and special friend Edna Olle, Sunshine grandparents Dale and Angela Wood, his fishing buddies Thomas Allen, Maggie and Bill Lazuka, his bowling league, his weekly dart friends and the entire Moosehaven community. Joey will be remembered for his smile, his outgoing personality, his strong Jersey accent but most especially his kind spirit and gentle heart. 

A service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St Catherine's Catholic Church 1649 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073.
