Judy Williamson

February 22, 1945 — August 23, 2021

She is a woman of strength and dignity.  When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says.

-Proverbs 31

Heaven has gained the most amazing angel.  Judy Williamson, lovingly known as Judy Bear, Mom, Mamaw and Snooty Judy Swag, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday, August 23, 2021.

She leaves behind “a good group of peeps” (as she would affectionately refer to us) including her loving husband of 54 years, Mike, her 4 children, 3 children in-law, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Family was everything to her. She was everything to us.

Judy was born and raised in New Jersey, spending most of her summers on the Jersey Shore. She attended the Centenary College for Women, where she earned a degree in Secretarial Studies.  After graduation, she moved to New York City, where she met and married the love of her life, Mike.  A couple kids and many moves later, Mike & Judy finally settled in Florida, where Judy dedicated her life to raising their family.

And dedicated she was.  From class mom to PTO President to Cheerleading coach, Judy did it all.  She was a seamstress, a baker, a self-proclaimed doctor, a therapist, a teacher, a mentor, a role model.  She was a mom to many- not just to her own.  She had a kind word and a smile for all. Judy just had a way of making everyone feel special. She leaned in and loved on with her whole heart.

Judy loved her church, bible study and singing groups.  She loved walking and water aerobics with her neighbors. She loved traveling and going on adventures with her husband and good friends.  Mainly though, she loved anything that involved spending time with her grandkids.  From football, baseball and volleyball games to cake Wednesday and card games, to prom and graduation and EVERYTHING in between, Judy was always there, leaning in and loving on.

We miss her every minute of every day but take comfort in knowing she is walking with the Lord.

We were blessed by her and because of her. Thank you, God, for this AMAZING woman.  Until we meet again…

A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Thursday, September 23rd at 10:00am at Orange Park United Methodist Church.
