Karen Lee Henrikson Bates, 63, of Orange Park, Florida passed away Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018. She passed away after a long fight with cancer. Karen was born to Karl Frederick Henrikson and Doris Gardner Costley on August 11, 1954 in Quincy, Massachusetts.
She was a stay at home Mom. Karen attended Calvary Baptist Church, helped with the food distribution to the community, assisted with the cleaning of the church and the homeless ministry, and was a helper with the pre-school children and bus ministry. Karen will be remembered for being there for her children, grandchildren and her ministry at her church.
She was preceded in death by parents, Karl and Doris Henrikson, brother, Robert Wayne Henrikson, former husband, William Robert Bates, and niece Crystal Macomber.
Karen is survived by daughter, Gail Bates of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter, Heather Bates of Orange Park, Florida; son, Billy Bates of Middleburg, Florida; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Charles Kite of Middleburg, Florida; three grandsons, Noah, Timothy and Robert; six brothers and three sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1532 Long Bay Road, Middleburg, FL. 32068 with Pastor Ken Pledger and Brother Tim Pledger officiating.
