CW4 (Ret.) Kenneth R. Snyder, 83, died May 20, 2018. He is an Army Veteran of Korea and Vietnam.
Mr. Snyder was born on March 30, 1935 to Oakley E. and Clara Snyder in Franklin, PA. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1953. He spent 26 years serving his country. Kenneth married his wife, Gerda, in Giessen, Germany on May 26, 1956. Together they traveled and explored the United States and other countries. After a career in the U.S. Army, Kenneth worked for Ryder Truck Co., retiring after 17½ years. Not able to be idle, he then worked in Real Estate. After living in Deltona, FL for 33 years, Ken and Gerda moved to Fleming Island, FL. Mr. Snyder was a member of the NAS Jacksonville All Saints’ Chapel. He so enjoyed the Christian military fellowship. He was a lifelong member of the Warrant Officers Association and Military Officers Association.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his loving wife, Gerda; daughters, Doris Valdez and Debra Jones (George); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brother, James Snyder; and many loving friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Chaplain Ian McCarthy officiating. Mr. Kenneth R. Snyder will be interred at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
