Larry Alan Carlson, 75, of Middleburg FL peacefully went to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 4th. He was surrounded by his family and his devoted wife of 55 years.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Jessica Hall; daughter, Brandy Lewis; son in law, Michael Lewis; nine grandchildren: Joshua, Zachary, Marc, Marleigh, Cole, Tyler, Noah, Adeline and Walker. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred; father, Ernest; sister, Carla and daughter, Haley.
Larry, one of 7 children, was born in Detroit, Michigan and at a young age moved to Hudson, NH where at the age of 17 he met the love of his life, Shirley, while swimming at the local swimming hole. Larry, also known as “Baby Sarge” joined the Army in 1964 and carried out two Tours of Duty; one in Korea and one in Okinawa. Larry and Shirley were married in Nashua, NH in 1965 and began expanding their family with the birth of their first child, Haley, in 1968. Jessica was soon to follow in 1971, and Brandy in 1979.
Larry was an ordained minister who spent much of his life uplifting those around him and sharing his faith and the gospel with others. He loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and collecting shark’s teeth on the beach. He was also a master puzzle solver, a skilled carpenter and could grow a garden with the finest fruits and vegetables. Larry was a devoted husband, a loving father and a proud and honorable veteran who was treasured by many and will be greatly missed.
Friends, family and others whose lives Larry touched are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, October 17th at 11:00am at Black Pond Baptist Church in Middleburg, FL.
