Larry Nathan Thomas

Larry Nathan Thomas, 70, of Fleming Island, FL passed away June 2, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Larry was born on Jan. 14, 1949 to R.N. and Peggy Thomas. He lived many years in Folkston, Georgia and graduated from Charlton County High School, class of 1967. Following high school Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. Afterwards, he began his career with the FAA as an air traffic controller and instructor for over 35 years, on top of shepherding Pinewood Presbyterian Church as an elder, small group leader, chairman of the school board, and serving in many other leadership roles. In his pastime, Larry enjoyed fishing, boating, and working on his immaculate lawn. Larry cherished his wife, Mary Jane, and children very deeply. His greatest passion in life was spreading the love of Christ and sharing the Gospel with all.

 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.N. Thomas, and his wife, Lizanne Thomas. He was survived by his wife of eleven wonderful years, Mary Jane Vickers Thomas.

 

He’s additionally survived by his siblings Ann (Wayne) Walden, David (Sophronia) Thomas, and children Joe (Erica) Thomas, Jake (Brittany) Thomas, Luke (Brittney) Thomas, Mike (Stephanie) Thomas, Beka (Joe) Lowery, Misty (James) Bailey, Josh (Lauren) Crews, Kaitlyn Crews, his twelve grandchildren, and many more loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

A memorial service will be held June 8th at 3 p.m. at Pinewood Presbyterian Church, 198 Knight Boxx Rd., Middleburg, FL with Rev. Dr. JD Funyak officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be made to Pinewood Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Broadus-Raines Funeral Home in Green Cove Springs.
