Laverne Johnson Smith

Laverne Johnson Smith, 80, of Orange Park went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 23,2020. She was born to Charles Brooks and Mahroy Harrison Johnson on August 27,1939, in Cochran, GA. She was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs and loved singing for the Lord. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice and making quilts.

She is survived by a son, John Warren (Deb) of Starke, a daughter, Melinda Padgett of Orange Park, a grandson, Calvin Padgett (Shelby) of Middleburg, as well as great grandchildren Peyton, Liam and Bailey.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2020, 10 am at Penney Farms Cemetery with Pastor Rusty Williams officiating.  A memorial service will be held at a later date that is to be determined.
