Leon Bell (Wilbur)

Leon Bell, 68, of Green Cove Springs, FL, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1957, to Wilber and Kizzie Mae Bell.

Leon proudly served in the United States Army. He was a true outdoorsman, happiest with a fishing pole in one hand and a hunting rifle in the other. Whether it was the thrill of the hunt or the quiet peace of a morning on the water, he found joy in nature and loved sharing those moments with family and friends.

A master of the grill, Leon could turn any backyard gathering into a feast. His one-of-a-kind laugh was contagious, a sound that will echo in the memories of all who knew him. And if you ever found yourself the target of his good-natured teasing, you knew you were loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilber and Kizzie Mae Bell; his sisters, Mildred Cobb, Barbara Jean Weeks, and Helen Thomas; and his brother, Lloyd Bell.

Leon is survived by his children, Leon Bell, JoAnna Benefield, Melissa Zelinsky, Ruby Smith and their families. He also leaves behind his sisters, Mary Rigdon, Virginia Daniel, Shirley Boone, and Ola Utley; and his brothers, Charlie Bell, Alan (Kathy) Bell, Larry Bell, Leroy Bell, and Jimmy Ray (Angela) Bell; as well as many nieces and nephews.

While his passing leaves an empty space in our lives, the stories, laughter, and love he shared will never fade.

May the fish always be biting, the deer always be near, and the grill always be hot.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 5th in the Broadus-Raines Chapel at 10AM with Pastor Ronnie Surrency officiating. Family will accept guests one hour prior starting at 9am.  Military honors will be given at the service.
