Leona "Lee" Cannady

July 16, 1941 — August 15, 2022

Leona (“Lee”) Cannady, age 81, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus on August 15, 2022.

She was born on July 16, 1941 to parents Floyd Sr. and Elizabeth McManus in Concord, Massachusetts.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Floyd McManus Jr., and her beloved husband Billy Dan Cannady.

She is survived by her two children and their spouses: Michael (Kay) and Matthew (Kristin); six grandchildren: Carson, Nicholas, Daniel, Rachel, Austin and Nathan;  two siblings: Elaine McManus and Kathleen McManus (Dan Holloway); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Lee moved to Hawthorne, Florida in 1957 because of her father’s health.  While there, she met the love of her life Billy “Dan” Cannady and they married on 9/2/1959 and were married 44 years until his death on 9/18/2003.

Lee and her husband Dan lived in several places as a Navy family until they eventually settled in Orange Park, Florida. Lee worked at Orange Park Kindergarten and many years as a librarian at Lakeside Junior High School until she retired from Clay County Schools.  After her husband’s death, she traveled the world and met many new friends.

Lee was very active in her church, Hibernia Baptist Church where she had a close group of friends that enjoyed spending time together. She loved to travel and make shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.

Lee will always be remembered for her love for her Lord Jesus Christ and her love for her family and friends.

A service to honor her life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Hibernia Baptist Church (7100 Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32003) with Pastor Scott Yirka officiating.
